Second edition. Overal good to very good, lacking bottom rod. Age toned. There is one large spot (approximately 5×8 cm.), in the St. Lawrence River at the bottom right of the inset plan of Rochester, in which the paper has turned white and largely deteriorated. 14 inset maps and plans, including large insets of New York City and Brooklyn and another of Long Island. There are also large inset geological and meteorlogical maps of the state at the left hand corners. Full color by town. 12 inset views. The French-Smith map of New York is one of the great maps of the 19th century, being the culmination of a decade’s worth of intensive mapping.
