An early manuscript plat map of the town of Montpelier in Williams County in northwestern Ohio on the verso of a stampless cover sent from Montpelier with a Montpelier cancellation, This cancellation is rated C (very rare) in Sampson. Very good condition, with separations at some fold junctions The map clearly shows the St. Joseph River, names the street, and identifies some land owners. There is also a depiction of a large, but unidentified, building. Montpelier, which was named after the capitol of Vermont which was the home of some of its early settlers, was first platted in 1845, only two years before this cover was mailed.
