Very good condition, with original rods, worn, damaged near top border with some loss to the top border and top edges of three of the views. Full color by town. Highly ornamental border combining views of 15 buildings and many other scenes of wildlife, railroads, ships, etc. 9 inset plans of towns and villages. Of particular interest is a note that the marginal views on the map were “taken Wm. H. Jennings, Daguerreian Artist, Norwich.” This is among the earliest evidence we hae seen of the impact of photography, then only 15 years old, on other printing and engraving endeavors. Thompson 158.
