6 original watercolor and pencil drawings of scenes in New York City. These watercolors, copies of 19th century printed views of New York, were likely executed some time in the late 19th or early 20th centuries. They are unsigned (except for #2 which has the name M. Gauthier on the back) and unattributed, but are very well done, capturing the original prints very well. The views include: 1) Washington Institute and City Reservoir; 2) Street scene in front of Federal Hall; 3) 17th century scene from the harbor during the Dutch period; 4) Street scene at Tontine Tavern; 5) Broadway showing Grace and Trinity Churches, c. 1820 (See Stokes v.3, plate 81); 6) Broadway featuring City Hotel with Trinity and Grace Churches to its left. $750 each.
